If you can guess our methodology, congratulations! We’ll be taking guesses on our twitter and we’ll reveal the Very Scientific method sometime on Saturday. Enjoy the draft and keep in mind our superior ranking, the most accurate of them all.
It is now Monday, and I feel I can safely reveal the method, which I have already discussed on twitter. While browsing the central scouting site, I noticed the NHL had helpfully included a short questionnaire with most of the prospects about their favorite movie, actor, video game, etc. We decided to rank the prospects on their taste, starting with a base ranking of 15 and adding or subtracting points from there.
We evaluated them based on favorite NHL player, actor, tv show, movie, and video game. Sidney Crosby was an automatic -2 because that made us feel old. Will Ferrell and Adam Sandler were -5 each, and same goes for their movies. NHL 15 was -2. We gave points based on originality or obscurity, or if we felt it was “before their time.” For funsies, know that Jakub Zboril ended up with a total of 32 points, while last place Noah Juulsen had -4. Sorry, Noah.
